Praedyth Still Alive? Lore Time.

Lore Time: Vault of Glass Mysteries

I was reading the Grimoire from the dead Ghosts in Paradox's Daily version. They consist of memory fragments from Ghosts (probably either Praedyth's or other members of Kabr's fireteam) that appear to be scattered across space and time. I came to a few conclusions that I'd like to share.

1. The Fallen may have encountered the Vex before.

The first fragment talks about how a Ghost wound up on a strange world, highly cultured and very beautiful. The Ghost was then picked up by a four armed creature who spoke in a harsh clicking language, but with a gentle tone, who was silhouetted against the sun. We know of only one 4 armed creature, and since they were never peaceful while on Earth, it makes sense to assume that the Ghost wound up on the Fallen homeworld during their Golden Age, especially since it mentions an alabaster sphere hanging in the distant sky.

This means that there were Vex gates on the Fallen world, and that they may have participated in the Fallen's own Collapse. Really, they aren't that much different than us.

2. The Exos were created to fight the Vex.

This is very, very straightforward. The next fragment takes place on an unknown planet, where the Ghost is picked up by an Exo ad strapped to its belt. The Exo then prepares for battle with a few dozen other Exos. They are engaged on a cratered battlefield by Vex, and a crashed ship bearing the Earth Golden Age sigil is seen in the distance.

This means the Vex were definitely there at the Collapse, and since the Exos were the only ones present, it is likely they were created during the Collapse to kill Vex. This may be because, similarly to the Warminds, perhaps Vex cannot simulate Exos and therefore cannot fight them as effectively (see Ishtar grimoire where researches brought in a Warmind to help determine whether they were in a simulation).

3. The City loses.

The last Ghost fragment features it tumbling through space, when a huge fleet (hundreds strong) of Guardian ships warp through, ranging from cruisers to personal jumpships, bearing sigils of the Vanguard, Tower factions, and other factions. They carry pieces of the Tower and City Walls, with some ships failing and drifting off into space. They then warp again, Battlestar Galactica-esque.

This seems to mean that the City was destroyed, and these are the ships that made it away, similar to those that fled during the Collapse. This is obviously only a possible future, but one where we have effectively become the Fallen. A little dark...

4. Praedyth is still alive, and the Vex can be wrong.

The last mystery is of Praedyth. He sits in a cell, every so often sending out a signal asking for help. He mentions how physical deterioration is technically not a problem, implying his mind lives on in the Vex network despite us finding his skeleton. This means it may still be possible to rescue him, or at least encounter him again.

Additionally, he says that the Vex had surrendered themselves to destruction by the Taken. And yet, we intervened and saved them from that fate, effectively proving the Vex wrong. I'm not sure what this means for future lore, quests, and Vex DLC, but the fact that minds the size of planets can be wrong...those are some serious implications...
