We are only days away from Bungie increasing the difficulty level of our beloved raid. Friday 23rd October will see the release of 'Heroic' Mode.
So what should we expect?
Well I would expect a much tougher encounter than previously. Bungie' Lead Developer Luke Smith confirmed that unlike previous raids they have designed Kings Fall backwards. This means that more effort has been made to make each we encounter more engaging.
I would also expect the death timer to still be a thing. As Bungie have created 3 tiers of raid, my guess is we will still have the ability to resurrect fallen allies.
I would also expect that any Knights/Wizards and such will become Majors will higher spawn rates.
Personally, I'm expecting any brands/buffs that we pick-up will have shorter timers (Warpriest Door/Warpriest Boss Fight/Daughters).
Golgorth will probably become a sticking point again, I feel the one orb strategy will no longer apply. I feel Golgorth will force us to complete all 6 orbs and the tablet will count more than just deaths.
Unsure on the Oryx fight changes, although plenty of room for bungie to make the encounter harder as currently it's probably one of the easier boss fights of the raid.
What can we do to prepare?
You will want decent gear. I would suggest 305+ light, high impact sniper, high calibe primaries and a variety of elemental weaponry. I would also prepare by preparing not to complete the full raid on one character straightaway. By this I mean, maybe get passed Warpriest then swop to an alternative character and rinse/repeat. As the encounter is recommended 310-320 light you will ideally want to be 310-315 for the later boss encounters, swopping characters should give you three attempts at gaining loot from Warpriest Door & Warpriest Boss. This, if lucky, will hopefully gear one of your characters to 310+ light if you were suitably prepared previously.
Should we do 'Normal' Mode first?
My guess is No, unless you haven't achieved 305+ light. Why? Because generally Raids have had increased drops on Hard Mode, so this should hopefully mean better loot with higher chance of better loot. Historically, if you completed the Normal Raid then Hard Mode you would find you get half the drops, not to mention there will be better gear only obtainable from Heroic Mode.
I hope this has helped, and please leave a comment if you feel I've missed anything out. Thank you very much for reading, and good luck in the raid!
