Warpriest Totem Cheese

King's Fall is pretty bulletproof as far as exploits, and is generally accepted as an excellent and well designed raid. That being said, here's a cheese for the totems.

The totem section before the warpriest is one of the easiest parts of the raid, with a coordinated fireteam. Some people cleverer than I decided that wasn't good enough, though, and discovered a method that pretty much cuts the time of a smooth run in half, with less risk of dying or making mistakes.

___

Details

___

* Start by picking two guardians to be on totem duty the entire time. They need to have swords. Split the remaining four players into pairs. These pairs will hang tight in those underhangs on each side of the stairs by the plate.

* The two totem guardians go over to the left and right respectively. Get your sword out and don't grab the aura.

You know the pools of sludge/mist that kill you if you walk into them before grabbing the aura? Yeah, we're gonna be walking into that. Hold down that left trigger and walk into the sludge/mist until the sword block makes a "pop" sound, then walk back out to safety. It's easiest to not accidentally die if you just hold the sword block down the whole time. Repeat this about 14 times, or 14 ticks of ammo, until the sword stops indicating damage being blocked. You should now be able to run freely around the side rooms without taking damage.

* Go stand on your totem and stay there for the the rest of the fight. You won't have to worry about much as long as you keep the boomer knights under control, the rest of the adds are easy.

* Now to the two pairs in the center! For whatever reason I don't understand, none of you will ever have to run to the totems now. One player from each pair takes the aura, and runs back to their underhang next to the stairs.

Side note: the two players with the aura cannot stand together. If the auras touch, you both die.

Side note 2: I noticed that the enemies don't get up to attack when you grab the aura. Didn't get the chance to explore that with my fireteam but it's worth pointing out!

* From here on out, it plays out almost semi-normal. Your auras will count down while you're in the center room, then you get the deathsinger's power and the aura passes to your buddy. Run to the plate and charge the runes, then back to your buddy in the underhang before his aura runs out. Rinse and repeat! You'll swap out like this and shoot adds the whole time. Priority goes to the knights, they pose the biggest threat to the totem guys. It's okay to let some thrall slip by as they are a good ammo source.

___

And that's pretty much it! It's ridiculously safe to the point that we did it on hard with a bunch of low 300s alts without anyone dying. And it easily shaves a few minutes off. The biggest weak point is that there's only one player on each totem, so make sure you don't die if you're on totem duty.

Go out and enjoy! (until it gets patched)

Trials of Osiris: Week One Loot

Firstly I would like to give a huge shoutout to Jcdace & Whynotx for taking me to the lighthouse this week. You can find their twitch channels at:

Twitch.tv/Jcdace
Twitch.tv/whyn0tx

They do weekly carries as long as you can listen to instructions and have some concept of gun fights. Alongside this they do raids and other content with viewers.

So on to my loot!

I got a couple of artifacts from Gold Tier packages, some armor for all classes, but the main loot was from the lighthouse!

Reflection Sum (Adept);

This came with a sweet roll of;
Secret Round
Injection Mold
Army of One

And the emblem;

Hopefully i get to update this a little more by the end of this weeks event. In the meantime enjoy this mini montage from Jcdace' Adventures so far.

Peace out for this week!

Trials Loot: How It Works

Trials Loot: How It Works

Since there seems to be some confusion, let's review how trials loot works.

RNG Drops

Blindsight Armor Set

This is analogous to the Y1 "Watchers" armor set. It only contains boots, chest, and gloves (no helm) and visually is a restyle of HoW vanguard/crucible gear. It drops between 260 and 310 light, as far as I can tell, and might be dependent on your light level. (More data needed.) Blindsight armor is *always* an RNG end-of-round drop, and can drop on the winning or losing team, though I believe the chances for the losing team is significantly lower.

Passage Coins

Passage coins will RNG drop, but in much higher frequency on the losing team. Usually each player on the losing team will get between 1 and 3 passage coins.

Other RNG drops

These aren't fully known on conditions of, but there are a suite of emblems, class items, and shaders (and a ship or two?) that presumably drop RNG-style from end-of-round. Conditions (win/loss, etc) are unknown for now.

Bounty Drops

Silver-Tier Package

The silver tier package is awarded after completing the "Valor's Reward" bounty. It guarantees some motes and a rare engram. It also has a chance to drop an exotic, which can be between 290 and 320 light (depending on light level).

Gold-Tier Package

The gold tier package is awarded after completing the "His Eye Upon You" bounty. It will contain a random Trials item - could be a weapon, a Winged Sun armor piece, or a ghost or artifact - and its light level will be between 300 and 310. It also has a chance to drop an exotic, which can be between 290 and 320 light (depending on light level).

Wins on a Single Passage

Drop at 5 Wins

When you get a passage coin to 5 wins, you will guarantee an armor drop from the "Winged Sun" trials set. This week, it is boots for all classes. Its light level will be between 300 and 310. (This is analogous to the armor piece you could buy from Vance at 5 wins in Y1.) It will drop in the end-of-round screen on your 5th win. (Once per character per week.)

Drop at 7 Wins

When you get a passage coin to 7 wins, you will guarantee a weapon drop. This week, is a scout rifle with "full auto" as a set perk. Its light level will be between 300 and 310. (This is analogous to the weapon piece you could buy from Vance at 7 wins in Y1.) It will drop in the end-of-round screen on your 7th win. (Once per character per week).

Lighthouse Chest

Opening the lighthouse chest will guarantee you an "Adept" primary weapon. Adepts have a different coloration pattern (primarily black with yellow accents). They also come with the perk "Last Resort" built in (akin to the bonus-damage-against-Taken perk on KF raid gear). The specific primary is RNG, and its light level is RNG between 310 and 320. In addition, you will also unlock the "Hic Jacet" emblem. You also get some motes, 4-5. It also has a chance to drop an exotic, which can be between 290 and 320 light (depending on light level).

The Sniper Rifle Conundrum?

Today's guest publication comes from Jcdace

I don't know if im alone in this thinking but I feel personally that sniper rifles are in a kind of weird place in destiny.

The overshield vs sniper impact issue (primarily in pvp) seems to cause a huge funnelling problem for sniper rifles where competetive gameplay is concerned.

Many snipers in PVP right now only seek out the high impact sniper rifles in order to either revive kill or kill people from their super abilities (other than those damn sunbreakers) and most people in PVE seek the higher impact snipers in favour of staggering and higher damage output.

I personally would like to be able to use other sniper rifles both for aesthetic reasons and for weapon feel, without feeling like I'm going to be punished for doing so.

It PAINED me to get such an awesome sniper rifle like the Eye of Sol, A trials of osiris weapon i couldn't even use in trials because of its lack of impact.

What would I suggest?

I don't really know an honest foolproof solution because we don't want to lose the unique factor for sniper rifles in general. But i feel personally that all snipers should have more or less the following capabilities:

  • 1 headshot kill or 2 bodyshot kill (3 bodyshot kills are just ridiculous)
  • All snipers should either be able to revive kill or none of them should be able to, revive kill has become a natural sniping mechanic in destiny whether it was intended to be or not, so this should be accepted or removed as a mechanic either way.
  • Sniper headshots should be able to kill all super ability overshielded opponents, reward a skilled and composed hand in a panic situation rather than over-rewarding someone who triggers a super ability in an inopportune time and gets a lucky break
  • No snipers should 1 shot body shot an opponent from full health, Sniper rifles are a skilled hand precision weapon, rewarding none-precision in such a lethal manner is counter productive.

I would love to see more variety in the PVP game for sniper rifles currently any competitive snipers are looking for either an Eirene RR4, 1000 yard stare or are sticking with the stillpiercer. This makes for a very stale experience and an often frustrating and unimaginative plane of creativity for sniper rifle users.

Players would have used things like patience and time / hereafer but after The Taken King and the 2.0 patch to aggressive ballistics those don't revive snipe anymore either making them even less of an option when it comes to an exotic slot.

I guess i just wanted to gauge people's opinions on this matter and hope that , if it gets enough traction that bungie would take note of this and hopefully see fit to change it.

Thanks.

Challenge Mode King's Fall Raid!

Today both Bungie and Luke Smith have confirmed what we all expected 'Challenge Mode' for Kings Fall Raid.

Now to wait for what these challenge modes will entail. Downing Warpriest whilst he has all three skills? Killing Golgorth with all six orbs? Oryx without a relic? Who knows but it looks like Bungie are trying to increase the lifespan and relevance of the raid.

How to Beat Hard Mode Kings Fall!

Hello, and welcome to my Blog for today's topic, 'How to Beat Hard Mode Kings Fall'. I will be giving you my helpful tips and tricks for each encounter and hopefully these will help in someway. I am fully aware of many strategies and methods, but these are mine based off FOUR full clears each time getting progressively faster and even using destinylfg.net for groups.

Link to my Destiny Tracker

What do you need?

  • Teamwork.
  • Positive Attitude Throughout.
  • 300+ Light upto Oryx / 310+ Light for Oryx.
  • One member of the fireteam that gives instructions.
  • At least ONE Titan.
  • Remember No Revives.

Preferred Loadouts?

  • Red Death if you have it for ad control upto Daughters Encounter.
  • 1000 Yard Stare 300+ for sniping upto Oryx Encounter.
  • 1000 Yard Stare or Raid Sniper 310+ at Oryx Encounter.
  • Touch of Malice if you have it for Daughters & Oryx.
  • Raid Machine Gun for entire Kings Fall.
  • Any Sniper perks on Armor (Sniper Reload/Ammo),
  • Any Primary specific perks relevant to what you are using (i.e Pulse Rifle Reload/Ammo for Red Death).

Warpriest Doorway

For this encounter you will find that it does remain relatively the same as normal mode. The only difference are that for the last few waves of enemies 'Yellow Knights' will spawn. My strategy for this encounter has always been the person with Deathsingers calls out when they are halfway back to the middle. At this point you swop out. If you have a Knight that gets away towards one of the totems you need to call it out, i.e 'Knight running left totem', 'Yellow Knight running right totem'. Communication is key so always call out anything that could cause other players issues.

Warpriest Boss Fight

For this encounter again the main mechanics are very much the same. The only difference this time is that each time you have the brand, depending on which sync plate was last, the warpriest will gain a special ability. My strategy is to have a titan throw a blessing of light bubble down (Weapons of Light aswell if you have 2 titans). This way if you take damage you can gain an overshield and the brand holder can hide in bubble between killing enemies. We also tried to use Touch of Malice to take him down in one Glyph with this strategy which can work with the correct timings.

Golgorth Boss Fight

Similar to the previous two encounters, not much changes at Golgorth either. The only real difference this time is that at 7 seconds of gaze left he will randomly mark one player. That player has to move away from all other players until his debuff is gone, if you stand to close to him you die. The way we completed this encounter was with 1 ball of light then lose gaze rinse/repeat as it still works very well on hard mode.

Daughters Boss Fight

You probably guessed it, but again not much changes here either. This time the only difference is that after your Aura of Immortality disappears the next brand has be gotten ASAP.You don't have time to try to organize and take a breather you get back to your platforms and do it again. My strategy is to take the daughters out within one run each time. Saving Tether and Weapons of Light for the 2nd daughter. We use the front to platforms for extra cover, once the daughter is dead we rotate inside the bubble to mid and kill mobs until its time to go again.

Oryx Boss Fight

Dare I say it, the only difference here is the addition of 4 Normal Knight that will feast on bombs. That's it! But with this mechanic comes more pressure, more timing, more teamwork. My strategy is;

  • Assign FOUR Platformers
  • Assign a TITAN as support with Blessing of Light (Bastion/Illuminated Nodes selected)
  • Assign runner to lowest light who can actually jump.
  • Assign any extra titan you have to place a Blessing of Light in the opposite corner of mid to where Oryx is stomping.

Step 1: Kill Ad's and Knights then get into your positions.

Step 2: Support Titan & Last Platformer jump up onto Daughters Pillar, drop blessing of light bubble as Oryx slams, then help with killing Ogres with Touch of Malice if you have it, or High Impact Snipers if you don't. Platformers need to take out Ogres then opposing knights, support will try to help with knights if you call it out. Knights spawn in rotation after each ogre is killed.

Step 3: Relic Holder calls when he has the relic, 3 platformers runs to mid (any additional titans throw Blessings of light in the opposite corner of mid to where Oryx is stomping) and gather in Bubble till relic holder is in mid. Meanwhile, 2 support guardians kill the last knight, wait for ship to pass then drop down into mid, help with killing vessel then stun oryx.

Step 4: Breathe, take 4-5 seconds to kill enemies before running to bombs. once enemies are dead your nominated instructions guy shouts 'Bombs'. all FOUR platformers runs and detonates their bombs then run back to mid.

Step 5: Mortar, avoid Oryx's mortar bombs by running around; 4 platformers run around your platforms, Relic Guy use daughters pillars, Support Guy run up and down mid.

Step 6: Rinse/Repeat the Above.

Step 7: At 50% health Oryx will teleport you to kill an Echo of Oryx, my tips are to never tether him whilst he is running into mid as he can slam 2-3 times. Swop out your Touch of Malice to something like Red Death, once you complete this stage swop back to Touch of Malice if you have it.

Step 8: Rinse Repeat the Above.

Step 9: Once Oryx has 0% everyone run to the front and fire everything you have to complete the raid.

Step 10: Collect Loot and fly to orbit.

Keynotes: If anyone dies before Echo of Oryx just wipe it. Try to not have huge pauses in action between wipes and don't name call. If some is struggling with a platform switch them around with someone else. If you need to be able to adapt and to recognize when your struggling.
This is my tried and tested method, I didn't come up with it, but I have refined it to work very well with any group PUG or friends. Let me know how you get on with this method and what loot you have gotten so far.

Elemental Primaries Axed

Bungie have dropped another nugget of information today. Luke Smith the lead developer on TTK raid 'Kings Fall', came out today to confirm that elemented primaries are going to be a thing of the past.

So what does this mean?

1. Don't expect elemented primaries from Hard Mode raid.
2. Nightfalls won't be getting any easier, you will need to get comfortable with the current variety of modifers and mix it up with your secondary and heavy weapons for the shields.
3. Trials of Osiris lighthouse sounds currently not as desirable as it was previously.

Is this a good thing?

Yes and No, whilst personally I see why they have done it after looking back at year one, I will miss them for nightfalls and shielded minions of the darkness.

My only negative feeling is, why do we need to defeat Oryx and visit the lighthouse if I'm not going to get the sweet loot that year one have me?

What are your thoughts? Leave them in the comments and share this news!

Trials Of Osiris Returns!

In the weekly update for 22th October 2015 bungie have confirmed the new launch date for revamped 'Trials of Osiris'.

Trials of Osiris will hit your playlists on 30th October 2015 10PM Pacific.

So ready your fireteams for this exciting PvP favourite. Here is my top tips for preparation;

1. Work out what will be your favourite loadout in this new world without Thorn, TLW, Blink Shotgun & Final Round Snipers.

2. Think about your armor. If you're running Pulse Rifle & Sniper Rifles try to have Armor that compliments your weapons to increased reload speed & ammo would surely be ideal.

3. Remember to buy Glass Needles from Xur to fine tune your favourite exotic armor.

4. Play Elimination and work on team co-ordination, I know most of the maps will be irrelevant for your ability to revive allies, cope in 3v1 clutch situations will stand you in good stead for the fights to come.

5. Prepare to have fun and don't take it too seriously, a winning team is aways a positive team. If your team starts to get negative you're better served by backing out for awhile and revisiting the trials once you've regained positive tilt.

Anyways, good and I hope to see you all in battle! Thank you very much for reading and please remember to share and bookmark if you enjoyed this blog in any way.

Praedyth Still Alive? Lore Time.

Lore Time: Vault of Glass Mysteries

I was reading the Grimoire from the dead Ghosts in Paradox's Daily version. They consist of memory fragments from Ghosts (probably either Praedyth's or other members of Kabr's fireteam) that appear to be scattered across space and time. I came to a few conclusions that I'd like to share.

1. The Fallen may have encountered the Vex before.

The first fragment talks about how a Ghost wound up on a strange world, highly cultured and very beautiful. The Ghost was then picked up by a four armed creature who spoke in a harsh clicking language, but with a gentle tone, who was silhouetted against the sun. We know of only one 4 armed creature, and since they were never peaceful while on Earth, it makes sense to assume that the Ghost wound up on the Fallen homeworld during their Golden Age, especially since it mentions an alabaster sphere hanging in the distant sky.

This means that there were Vex gates on the Fallen world, and that they may have participated in the Fallen's own Collapse. Really, they aren't that much different than us.

2. The Exos were created to fight the Vex.

This is very, very straightforward. The next fragment takes place on an unknown planet, where the Ghost is picked up by an Exo ad strapped to its belt. The Exo then prepares for battle with a few dozen other Exos. They are engaged on a cratered battlefield by Vex, and a crashed ship bearing the Earth Golden Age sigil is seen in the distance.

This means the Vex were definitely there at the Collapse, and since the Exos were the only ones present, it is likely they were created during the Collapse to kill Vex. This may be because, similarly to the Warminds, perhaps Vex cannot simulate Exos and therefore cannot fight them as effectively (see Ishtar grimoire where researches brought in a Warmind to help determine whether they were in a simulation).

3. The City loses.

The last Ghost fragment features it tumbling through space, when a huge fleet (hundreds strong) of Guardian ships warp through, ranging from cruisers to personal jumpships, bearing sigils of the Vanguard, Tower factions, and other factions. They carry pieces of the Tower and City Walls, with some ships failing and drifting off into space. They then warp again, Battlestar Galactica-esque.

This seems to mean that the City was destroyed, and these are the ships that made it away, similar to those that fled during the Collapse. This is obviously only a possible future, but one where we have effectively become the Fallen. A little dark...

4. Praedyth is still alive, and the Vex can be wrong.

The last mystery is of Praedyth. He sits in a cell, every so often sending out a signal asking for help. He mentions how physical deterioration is technically not a problem, implying his mind lives on in the Vex network despite us finding his skeleton. This means it may still be possible to rescue him, or at least encounter him again.

Additionally, he says that the Vex had surrendered themselves to destruction by the Taken. And yet, we intervened and saved them from that fate, effectively proving the Vex wrong. I'm not sure what this means for future lore, quests, and Vex DLC, but the fact that minds the size of planets can be wrong...those are some serious implications...

Thanks for reading! Feel free to discuss and share.

Heroic King's Fall

We are only days away from Bungie increasing the difficulty level of our beloved raid. Friday 23rd October will see the release of 'Heroic' Mode.

So what should we expect?

Well I would expect a much tougher encounter than previously. Bungie' Lead Developer Luke Smith confirmed that unlike previous raids they have designed Kings Fall backwards. This means that more effort has been made to make each we encounter more engaging.

I would also expect the death timer to still be a thing. As Bungie have created 3 tiers of raid, my guess is we will still have the ability to resurrect fallen allies.
I would also expect that any Knights/Wizards and such will become Majors will higher spawn rates.
Personally, I'm expecting any brands/buffs that we pick-up will have shorter timers (Warpriest Door/Warpriest Boss Fight/Daughters).
Golgorth will probably become a sticking point again, I feel the one orb strategy will no longer apply. I feel Golgorth will force us to complete all 6 orbs and the tablet will count more than just deaths.
Unsure on the Oryx fight changes, although plenty of room for bungie to make the encounter harder as currently it's probably one of the easier boss fights of the raid.

What can we do to prepare?

You will want decent gear. I would suggest 305+ light, high impact sniper, high calibe primaries and a variety of elemental weaponry. I would also prepare by preparing not to complete the full raid on one character straightaway. By this I mean, maybe get passed Warpriest then swop to an alternative character and rinse/repeat. As the encounter is recommended 310-320 light you will ideally want to be 310-315 for the later boss encounters, swopping characters should give you three attempts at gaining loot from Warpriest Door & Warpriest Boss. This, if lucky, will hopefully gear one of your characters to 310+ light if you were suitably prepared previously.

Should we do 'Normal' Mode first?

My guess is No, unless you haven't achieved 305+ light. Why? Because generally Raids have had increased drops on Hard Mode, so this should hopefully mean better loot with higher chance of better loot. Historically, if you completed the Normal Raid then Hard Mode you would find you get half the drops, not to mention there will be better gear only obtainable from Heroic Mode.

I hope this has helped, and please leave a comment if you feel I've missed anything out. Thank you very much for reading, and good luck in the raid!

Nightfall Relevant Again?

Since the launch of The Taken King, the community as a whole has been left underwhelmed by the weekly ritual of completing each characters Nightfall on a Tuesday.

Whilst the addition of checkpoints to the Nightfall was helpful, the removal of reputation buffs was always going to make the process less playable. This mixed with a lootpool of Runes, Strange Coins & Three of Coins alongside Legendary Armor have subtracted from the chances of getting sweet exotic gear or a nicely rolled Legendary Weapon.

Thankfully Bungie seem to have listened! And a couple of weeks ago they promised change. Whilst they haven't confirmed what changes will be made, they have now confirmed that within tomorrow' patch will include updates aimed to make Nightfalls more rewarding.

Link to Bungie's Tweet

This week's patch will most probably also include a fix to Nightstalker, aswell as an end to farming Omnigul.

Anyways that's all for now, please follow for more information and updates!

Destiny Sunbreaker Glitch?

So I was playing on the dreadnaught whilst enemies started moving against each other and I started to 'Glitch' the spawn of Hives.

Of course as you can see it isn't a glitch just my Super and Grenade working hand in hand vs the spawn. But it looks epic and I would suggest you to try this and enjoy the fireworks.

And so it begins...

Welcome to my Blog!

I have never done anything like this before so I'm open to criticism and feedback throughout my time 'blogging'. This will hopefully be updated several times a week with different subjects being discussed and funny videos of my time gaming.

If you would be so kind drop a follow if you find my blog and together let's make this fun!
